When developing plays for hydrocarbon reservoirs it is essential that you not only formulate a single location to drill, but rather develop a model for the lateral extent of your play.
I will be using nationalatlas.gov to study the 3D geometry of karst regions in the U.S. and how they correlate to controlling factors such as faulting and precipitation. The karst map on nationalatlas graphically shows the 3rd dimension of karst by coloring the karst areas based on their vertical and horizontal extent.
